How to help employees to thrive at work

To create sustainable performance, you must give your employees the chance to learn and grow. So they will thrive and so will your organization.

Researchs has shown that managers can take four measures to help employees to thrive at work. All four are necessary to promote a culture of vitality and learning :

  1. Provide decision-making discretion (Employyes are energized by the ability to make decisions that affect their job so give them a better sens of control and more opportunities for learning);
  2. Share information ;
  3. Minimize incivility;
  4. Offer performance feedback.
Individual strategies for thriving :
  • Take a break or other renewal tactics;
  • Craft your own work to be more meaningful ;
  • Look for opportunities to innovate and learn ;
  • Invest in relationships that energize you ;
  • Recognize that thriving can spill over outside the office.
